WHO WE ARE?

In June 1998, 13 interested Ontario professionals met to explore and develop quality standards and criteria in order to certify problem gambling counsellors in Canada. A non-profit agency, this Board is dedicated to ensuring that individuals seeking assistance for or about gambling problems have access to professionals who have met a measured knowledge, skill and competence in this area of counselling. The Board has created a process that will allow such counsellors to be recognized as Canadian Problem Gambling Counsellors.

The Canadian Problem Gambling Certification Board operates under the following mandate:

  • ensuring professional growth through further education
  • providing information, assistance and certification
  • setting quality standards and criteria
  • evaluating skills, knowledge and experience
  • advocating for high standards of ethical practice
